Mahansar is a small town between Bissau & Fatehpur near Mandawa in Shekhawati Region. Mahansar Fort was founded by Thakur Nahar Singh in 1768 A.D. The Outer Wall & Bastion were
added later on.
The Castle in now run by the present Thakur Tejpal Singhji & his family. The large and airy rooms have arched pillars and intricate paintings on the walls and have been furnished to provide guest
with all the necessary comforts. Ask to see several rooms before checking in, as some are better than others. meals cooked by the family members.
A short distance from the Fort is Sona Chandi ki Dukan, which, unusually for Shekhawati, incorporates gold leaf in its painting, particularly around the alcoves in the first chamber.
The Raghunath Temple, dates from the mid-19th Century. It has fine floral arabesques beneath the arches on either side of the courtyard and a very fine facade.
The Town prospered for several decades but now is a sleeping town of Shekhawati.
