A warm welcome awaits you at Castle Khandela, the ancestral home of Rajah Raisal Singh II and his wife Rani Sunila Raisal. The castle, which is situated in the heart of the
small town of Khandela, nestled amongst the Aravali Hills and the family who have resided there for 18 generations, have been regarded with affection and respect by the townspeople, for over 700 years.
It is thought that construction of the castle, using local sand stone, began in about 1780, after the ruler of the Shekhawat clan, the first Raja Raisal Darbari, conquered the ruler of the clan of
Nirwan, in a fierce battle which resulted in the destruction of the fort that was at the top of the nearby hill. |
